I like chocolate cake I really like rich chocolate brownies with cream And what is more, I can cook them both as I have the recipes.
The logic is quite simple: 1—Find a good recipe 2—Collect all the ingredients together 3—Mix them in the right quantities 4—Bake in the oven at the right temperature for the right amount of time 5—Success!
I think our walk with God can be very much like making a chocolate cake with him
(well sort of): 1—I ask God to make a chocolate cake 2—I refuse to give him all the ingredients
(as some require personal trust and risk to provide) 3—I refuse to allow him to refine my life and bake the cake. 4—The result: a sloppy, plain pancake.
We are shocked at the result.
What?! I asked you God for a chocolate cake,
how come I only have a sloppy, plain pancake?
God must smile sadly at our plight,
our dismay and shock at the results.
Ah his great love toward us in speaking gently to our spirit, to grow our trust of him.
What happens when we allow God access to everything?
Allow him to make the cake in the way he wants?
I reckon God will make in us the most wonderous chocolate cake ever!
